Polish Grain Day 2023

The second edition of Polish Grain Day, held on May 25-26, 2023, continued the discussion of the most important challenges for the Polish agri-food sector. This year’s conference was preceded by a Gala Dinner held on May 25.

Last year was a year of Russia’s bestial aggression against Ukraine and enormous uncertainty across our eastern border. Today, words of solidarity with our neighbors resonate in a special way. In this act of solidarity, our sector has an important role to play. Just as a year ago, today, we express our conviction that Poland should continue to be a transit country in solidarity with Ukraine – in line with the government's original declaration,” pointed Monika Piatkowska, President of the Grain and Feed Chamber, during the inauguration of the event.

The event included three lectures:

  • Stefan Kawalec’s presentation titled Ukrainian economic scenarios and their consequences for Poland
  • presentation by Miroslaw Marciniak titled World and domestic grain market in the face of global uncertainties in 2023
  • Sebastian Kaczmarek’s presentation titled Innovation and increased production security – the PrecisionMix 2.0 project.

The panel discussion titled Safe agri-food sector, moderated by Ms. Monika Przeworska Director of the Institute of Agricultural Economics, was attended by: Pierre Pages (Mondry Sp. z o.o.), Wojciech Krzywosądzki (Thegra Poland Sp. z o.o.), Grzegorz Niezbecki (ProGnosis Biotech SA), Michał Jaskowski (Louis Dreyfus Polska Sp. z o.o.).

Despite the difficult conditions on the international market in 2022, we recorded a further increase in the value of Polish food exports. The value of sales of agri-food goods abroad reached a record high of almost €50 billion – more than PLN 220 billion. This is 26.7% higher than a year earlier,” the panelists pointed out.

Polish Grain Day 2023 was a “prelude to October’s European Commodities Exchange.” On October 12-13, the Grain and Feed House hosted the 63rd edition of the European Commodities Exchange, which was held for the first time in Central and Eastern Europe.

The main partners of the event were Louis Dreyfus Company, Thegra Poland and Viterra. Strategic partners included: Cefetra, Mondry, Agerona, GTC Agro, USSEC. Chemirol became a partner of Polish Grain. Media patronage was provided by the following portals: farmer.pl, Portal Spożywczy, Przedsiębiorca Rolny and Świat Rolnika.
