Polish Grain Day 2024

June 6, 2024 marked the 3rd edition of Polish Grain Day, a meeting of companies in the grain and feed sector from Poland and Central and Eastern Europe, during which a space for debate, trade fairs and cooperation is created.

The theme of this year’s event was “Safe Poland.”

As every year, the event was opened by Monika Piatkowska, president of the Grain and Feed Chamber, and shortly afterwards the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Czeslaw Siekierski spoke.

The special guest of the event was Prof. Balcerowicz – Minister of Finance and Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers from 1997 to 2000, Chairman of the Reses of the National Bank of Poland from 2001 to 2007, who delivered a speech entitled “The state and prospects of the Polish economy against the global background”. The lecture was followed by an interesting discussion moderated by editor Beata Lubecka.

Next, BNP Paribas’ Head of Agri-Food Sector Analysis, Grzegorz Kozieja, discussed the most key issues related to the grain market situation. While market analyst Miroslaw Marciniak of InfoGrain, in addition to the current situation in the grain market, presented the outlook for the 2024/25 season. The last speech belonged to Konrad Kąkol, managing partner of the law firm J. Dauman Legal, who spoke about how to secure the interests of the parties in a contracting agreement and ways to minimize contractual risks in a force majeure situation in agricultural trade.

The conference part ended with a panel discussion entitled Agriculture in times of war across the eastern border. How to ensure Poland’s agri-food security?

As every year, the participants of the Polish Grain Day also took part in the fair part and the Gala Dinner, which this year opening speech was given by Paweł Kowal, head of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, government plenipotentiary for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
